Working on Mexico's Next Top Model, one contestant — knowing she wouldn't win — decided to play the villain, channeling classic reality TV antics. But with the magic of editing, we flipped her plan, making her look foolish instead of devious.
The result? She deleted her social media as soon as the show aired, and was eliminated in tears by episode four. It left me conflicted — what started as entertaining became deeply personal. Despite the mixed feelings, it was a huge success, and an unforgettable lesson.
I began my reality TV journey in the editing room before moving to the content team, where crafting the right questions to shape a story became an exhilarating challenge. Frustrated by the disconnect between editing and production, I became the bridge — ensuring editors could build up major moments from the very first episode.
